Meditation Specialist CODE OF ETHICS

Center for Meditation Science(CMS)- Specialists Code of Professional Standards

I agree to the following code of ethics:

Statement of Purpose
As a Meditation Teacher representing the Meditation Specialist Program, we recognize the responsibility of the meditation specialist to ensure a safe and protected environment in which a client can grow physically, mentally and spiritually. In order to protect the client in this potentially vulnerable relationship, as well as to uphold the highest professional standards for meditation specialist, I agree to accept the following foundational principles:
1. Maintain the highest standard of personal and professional conduct
2. Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information entrusted or known to
me by virtue of an elected or appointed position in the association.
3. Adhere to using principles of science and not include religion or religious belief systems in my teachings.
4. Maintain diversity by including all students of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or national origin.
5. Respect the rights, dignity and privacy of all clients.
6. Avoid words and actions that constitute sexual harassment of any kind, including overt and covert seductive speech or gestures.
7. Uphold the integrity of the vocation by conducting myself in a professional and conscientious manner.
8. Stay abreast of new studies in the field of meditation through educational activities and study.
9. Acknowledge the limitations of my skills and scope of practice and refer students to seek alternative instruction, advice, treatment or direction where appropriate.
10. Obey local, state and national laws.
11. Discuss all fees and financial arrangements, as with all contractual matters, without hesitation or equivocation at the onset making sure that they are delivered in a straightforward, professional manner.
12. Promote and encourage qualified individuals to join and become active in the Meditation Specialist Program.

A Meditation Specialist found responsible for violating the Code of Ethics at any time will have their certification revoked immediately. The meditation specialist holds Dr. Susan Taylor, the Board members and the Center for Meditation Science harmless. If the specialist does or does not deny responsibility for the violation(s) but wishes to appeal the sanction imposed by the CMS, they may request a review of the sanction only before the Board. If found in fault, agrees to pay all costs involved.
