Clinic 2

We just finished Clinic 2 - Science of Breath in both the Pennsylvania and California location. The clinic provided foundation information focusing on breathing practices. Both groups were in great spirits and enthusiastic about continuing.

Meditation in action
Hello to all meditators, Its great to hear from all of you in conference. I agree with members that we all need a little bit of boost from time to time to go forward with our practice. The insight of Dr Taylor and the different feedback that we receive from one another renew our strenght to continue to move forward. I myself thought I was on a plateu phase of my practice. I miss to medidate a couple of times this time compare to clinic 1, but as I analyze I just need some adjustment in my shedule. As we were told our practice of meditation is much different in the outside world because we have other things to consider, unlike when we were in Honesdale or in Petaluna is much different because all we focus is the practice.
Few weeks ago I have seen right before my eyes the healing power of meditation. I was working night shift in ICU and I had a 500 lbs patient in which having trouble breathing because of many things that going on with her. a severely obese and anxious patient is not a good scene in ICU.I gave her ativan IV 3-4 hrs ago in which did not work. Heart rate is racing to 150's sustained with respiratory rate of more than 30's I offered meditation to calm her. And she agreed. I tried to familiarize breath awareness with meditation , as what we have on CD. So I read to her my copy and before I finished my body scan She fell asleep and Heart rate drop to 90's within minutes of practice. I notice also the reduction of respiratory rate within that time period. I was so delighted that it work. After a couple of hours I woke her up for some lab draw , and my patient verbalize that it was great and she requested me to do another one and same as the first time she feel asleep before I finished. And her Vital signs became normal on that shift. After few days I came back to her and continue to teach her diaphragmatic breathing. And just this week before she got discharge she drop by to ICU to say goodbye, a much different person.
Meditation and Insight
Hi,
I just wanted to share with all of you how meditation has helped me gain new insights. It just amazes me how much I have grown on a personal and spiritual level since I statred meditating almost a year ago.
I'm able to see things for what they are, to see the real reason why we do the things we do. It's all about looking inward asking yourself questions. Meditation has helped me see that when I have a problem with someone, it's usually not the other person but me that needs to change something or simply just communicate better so there are no misunderstandings (mainly with my fiance). I've gained a lot of awareness on so many different levels. I really think it has helped me be a better much happier person. I still have a lot to go but I feel with this new knowledge about meditation I'm on the right track! And that's exciting to me!!

July Conference Call
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to thank you Susan and everyone else who participated in the July conference call. I really neeed that. It was a nice way to stay connected with everyone and with my practice- it gave me new energy and motivation to put more effort into my practice. There have been a few changes in my routine at home and I have to admit I had started to slack off a little bit, but the conference call was just what I needed to re-think my schedule to fit in my practice, basically I just have to get up half an hour earlier like I used to. Thanks again guys!!

Clinic 2
Hello everyone-
It's great to read the comments about Clinic 2. I too felt like I really moved ahead in my knowledge and my ability to teach what we have learned. I just spent two days in the mountains, completely disconnected from everything,no phones or electricity or people. It was a wonderful place to practice what we are learning and to reaffirm my commitment to my own practice.
I realy enjoy reading about what all of my classmates are doing-keep posting!

Howdee to ya'll, From the
Howdee to ya'll, From the plains of Texas to the hills of Pocono peace to you all. Honesdale class '09 where are you? I'm back, a little bit late but I'm here.Clinic 2 is a little bit serious business now. My doubts and hesitation are all left in clinic 1. Clinic 2 is more of acquiring as many knowlege as I can. Reality has set in, that someday we are going to deal and talk to a real patient. Clinic 2 has given us a taste test of that reality. " You can only teach what you have practice' is now getting real. I have started to teach what I have learned using all the tools in our arsenal. I am also preparing my teaching plan for our hospital staff.
I have only practice meditation since April and yet the benefits and the amazing change in my body both mentally and physically are unpresidented. Since April on ist clinic these are the unbelievable change that trancribe in me.
1. Have quit my love affair with carbonated drinks and alcohol(even beer) not even a single bottle since after clinic 1.
2.Have not used Lunesta since after clinic 1
3. lost 15 lbs body weight
4.Drop my cholesterol level from 336 to 166. In which I have struggled to normalize for more than 5 yrs in which I was unsuccesful.
5. More focus and improvement of my memory.
6. I have much better self control and respect to myself.
These are just few of the wonders meditation has brought to my life.
As much as I am extremely busy in meditation and teaching I cant wait what clinic 3 has to offer.
Will see you soon . Life is great lets enjoy it.
Happily BiCoastal Now
It was great to meet the West Coast group at Clinic 2. I feel so fortunate now to have met the entire group of future Certified Meditation Specialists. It's exciting to imagine how many people will be touched by the commitment everyone has made to help folks reduce their stress and find some inner peace.
I highly recommend getting the Vitality Series by Susan. It's a nice complement to the things we have learned in Clinics 1 and 2. I've had several opportunities to share these concepts with friends since my return, and have been delighted by their openness. I spent Sunday afternoon explaining the science of breathing and the essentialness(if that's a word)of stress reduction to a suffering friend. So nice to have the tools to help.
Looking forward to Clinic 3!

Hi Tim , we miss you in
Hi Tim , we miss you in Honesdale. I'm glad to hear that you meet new friends in Petaluna. You should see how honesdale group has bonded now. Its very different from clinic 1. Honesdale has grown.
More power to your teaching. I know someday one of Honesdale group will cross path with you. I'm glad that you adjusted well.

What a pleasure to see everyone again and to deepen our friendships. It is interesting how that happens with time and those shared experiences.
I have committed to walking 30 minutes a day as my project for this next period. I am grateful to have a dog that loves to go out, so she encourages me to keep to my goal! I feel good when I get back, and so does she! Dr. Oz recommends telling someone that you have walked 30 minutes! That feels good, too! "I walked 30 minutes tonight."
I am more and more aware of breath in my meditation, in my singing( I take a musical theatre class) and when I become aware that my ego needs me to take some perspective on something I am doing or saying. When I take a moment to be aware of my breath, I also gain new insights into what I am doing, and can make better decisions!
Thank you Susan for the clinic experience, and thank you to all of my fellow travelers on this journey for your support and friendship. I am trying to decide where I will go for Clinic 3...not an easy decision.

Clinic 2- Petaluma
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say what a great experience I had last weekend. It was exactly what I needed to get back on track.
I feel clinic 1 prepared us for clinic 2 and what is to come. Now I have the tools to take it to the next level and I’m really excited about it.
All this week I’ve been vocalizing the asanas as I do the postures and imagining myself in front of a group of people.
I’m so happy it seems things are slowly making more sense and I feel I have a purpose and it’s something I see myself doing.
I think it’s so wonderful that Dr Taylor started this program and we are the pioneers in this specialty leading the way! We have a great responsibility but I’m looking forward to being a part of this and making this a part of health prevention in our communities.

I was so happy with this clinic. I thoroughly enjoyed the science aspect of this section. I love anatomy- guess that's one of the reasons I ended up in the OR. I had been frustrated with the "teaching" session, but found when I returned home that I actually could take myself through a session with much better language. That section was very helpful to me. It was wonderful to connect with people again, as well as meet new faces from the Honesdale clinic. I felt the class settling in with each other this time. It's nice. I also feel that now is when the real work begins- this is the time for commitment to this endeavor. I am allowing myself a "return to normal week" and then hope to begin at least one session with co-workers that have been asking for some help. Wish me luck! Hope to keep in touch with people more this time before returning in the fall.
